Baglios has recently been given a fantastic new brand design, logo, store layout and product offering that launches the business into the dynamic world of retail franchising for the first time. This important decision and strategy, coupled with the experience of the new business team headed up by Kenny MacKinnon as CEO and partner , will ensure rapid growth as a national icon and leader in the market place.

 

The business model is designed to become a franchise investment of choice, simple to operate and manage, supported by first class training and ongoing business support to assist the franchisee to focus on service delivery and bottom line profitability.

 

The secret success of the business of course, is contained in the variety of specially made recipes and innovative, tempting flavours that are created by the Barbaglia family who are master ice cream artisans themselves. The original owners and founders of the business continue to develop and craft the products ready to be enjoyed by millions of discerning consumers.

This new franchise opportunity offers the Franchisee a complete turnkey solution, with the Franchisor fully responsible for site selection and approval, lease negotiations, ongoing business training and support. Store project management design and installation, is executed by highly experienced and professional contractors who are answerable to the Franchisor.

 

This turnkey process takes the pressure of immediate time consuming activity away from the Franchisee, and allows them to concentrate on the new business to be opened. Part of this full turnkey model is assistance with finance applications and business plans, should they be necessary for a financial loan to help fund the investment.

What does a Baglios franchise cost?

 

Franchise costs include:

  • - The rights to operate under the Baglios name and business model
  • - Assistance with finance application and business plans
  • - Initial franchise legal costs for documentation
  • - Full turnkey and project management for new stores
  • - Initial in-store training and Operations Manual
  • - Opening stock and staff uniforms

The cost for a new turnkey franchise is R750 000.00 excluding VAT and Baglios Franchising requires that the franchisee / investor has a minimum of 40% of the franchise cost as own unencumbered cash contribution towards the total cost , as well as at least R50 000.00 extra as working capital to assist during the early development phase of the new business.

 

An upfront non-refundable Franchise Fee of R75 000.00 (excluding VAT) is required with a signed Franchise Agreement in order to secure a Franchise for a particular area or site.



 

Training and Support

 

While the business model is simple to manage and operate, great emphasis is placed on the initial in-store training that is provided by the Franchisor for the Franchisee and new staff.

 

A minimum of 60 hours on-site training is given for all franchise staff , which takes place under professional supervision at one of our appointed training stores , and in the franchisee's own store from effective commencement date.

 

All operational aspects are covered including the production of Baglios premium ice cream , yoghurts and sorbets , equipment training , strong hygiene methodology , retail and stock management , merchandising and customer service. Our Operations Manager with over 10 years experience in the industry , takes great pride in sharing his secrets for the successful running of a top performing store.

 

Along with the initial training , the Franchisee is provided with a comprehensive Operations Manual which documents the business model in great detail , and also offers excellent information and guidelines on labour issues , occupational safety and marketing of the business. It is the responsibility of the Franchisee to make sure they are fully familiar with the requirements and content of the Operations Manual , and to update themselves and staff when updates are provided by the Franchisor.

 

The key to owning and running a successful franchise , is to ensure that you are able to manage and monitor the financial performance of your business on an ongoing basis. We provide a simple Income & Expenditure template that the franchisee needs to complete and submit to the Franchisor every Quarter , so together we can see the business growth and performance. If the Franchisee is not sufficiently skilled at managing this important document , we provide the training to do so. Various external franchise training courses are also recommended to improve the franchisee's skills , and the Franchisor will conduct certain training sessions from time to time which may be compulsory for the franchisee and/or staff to attend.

The ideal Baglios franchisee is an individual with an entrepreneurial, outgoing nature and a burning desire to grow a successful owner-operated business. They should take pride in their establishment, as well as the brand, and do everything in their power to further the success and image of the brand. This person should possess strong marketing skills, have a zero tolerance attitude regarding food hygiene standards and be able to work within the systems and processes imposed by the franchisor.

 

They should have a strong service orientation, always willing to go the extra mile for their customer and brand.

They should have a proactive and hand's-on approach to their business, have the ability to communicate effectively and to manage others. They should be able to motivate their staff, be willing to work long hours, always adhering to core hours so as to prove responsible to staff and landlords. Previous retail, food or business experience is important.They should be credit worthy and have available the required financial resources, including sufficient working capital.
